How long is the pub closed for??
Great to see this fantastic old boozer open once more, open fires, good pub food, even better electronic devices are discouraged indeed banned.... remember conversation? enjoy it's set to become a local gem
MoreNo cash. No food. No atmosphere. No friendly smile. Good beer garden. The landlord is missing a few tricks. If there was a card machine (there used to be) we'd have stayed for more than the tenners worth. He rudely told tourists at the door it's non-food on account of the sign outside. Whole section of the pub was closed off. Go if you want a pint after a nice walk... But nothing else.
MoreWhy does this horrible man from Yorkshire feel like it's his business to regulate our behaviour in our local pub? Such potential but appallingly run by the chain. Please sell it to someone who will look after it properly!
MorePoor food. Enforced ban on phones, pads, and laptops. Cash transactions only. Could be a really nice place but owner needs to accept the realities of the modern world if he wants my custom again.
MoreWorst experience ever. We got into the pub with our disabled daughter and this was before 11am and were guided to take seats in the right around their fireplace. We saw the menu and went up to the bar and the rude lady said to come towards the tills for orders. She then said oh we don’t take food orders till 11am. Then why guide us in with our disabled child. The worst experience ever and will never be going to them again. Next time if any child that comes in carrying oxygen or even having a disability - a slight politeness would be nice to the family.
MoreWonderful cozy place!
I used to love this pub but I went in today and had to do something for work on my phone. I was told to get of my phone because your not allowed to use it in there. Absolutely shocking wont be back. And the prices are shocking to.
MoreLovely old place. Staff lovey and food was very nice. Will definitely be back Thanks for making us feel welcome
MoreBeing a Cramond local I feel fairly strong about this pub. Staff are very friendly but the management of the pub is unbelievably poor. It is run a by a management chain with questionable history. They do not accept CARD, cash only. Especially during COVID-19 i would have expected this to change it doesn’t. It’s got some very archaic rules, no phones, children etc. Some weird opening hours and no food service.Perfect location for another company/individual to come and run this pub for how it should be run. Beautiful interior that could be brought back to life with people!
MoreFriendly staff, beer garden has lovely views out over the beach and island. Expensive pints, even for Edinburgh standard, at >£6. And, cash only!
More5* for the comment replies, get them telt 😆I'll pop in for a visit soon to try the food and witness the apparently underwhelming ambiance. Looking forward to it!Do you accept cryptocurrency?
MoreWent in with my elderly parents for a drink. £5.30 for two (half pints) glasses of soda and lime. After the drinks had been served, I was told they don't have soda water on tap so only had expensive bottles of soda. Felt like I was being robbed. A very indignant staff member, who looked like she'd had enough of the place herself. My 78 year old father was rather assertively informed from behind the bar that he wasn't allowed to use his phone when he was spotted reading a text message (not even phoning someone). It almost ruined what an other wise pleasant day with my parents. No dogs, No cards, No wifi, No phones; makes for a very negative atmosphere. It takes effort to make a place so unwelcoming. I don't blame the staff, clearly a management/policy issue. I won't be back.
MoreCASH ONLY. The nearest cash machine is an hour away. No TV, No music, phone conversations take place outside. My kind of pub! A very welcoming atmosphere. I easily fell into conversation with the regulars. A bit strange to drink Sam Smiths Yorkshire Bitter in Edinburgh! Amazing views from the beer garden.
MoreVery limited and poor selection of drink/alcohol and no crisps for sale. I had a pint of the only available cider which was flat warm. Service was confused and slow. The barmaid was unsure if they did food or not but took a booking for half an hour later and we ordered food. It took 45 minutes to arrive and was edible, just. Its a shame really as it is the only pub in the area and has a lovely beer garden. It could be really good if it had more alcohol choices and was run better. It was also cold in spite of the coal fire which was smoking and making us choke a little. Don't see us ever returning.
MoreUnique and special. No mainstream music blasting from the speakers so you can actually talk and or meditate. This place has its cosy corners and a fire going on a cold night. Good selection of craft beers and a relaxed non-commercial atmosphere. Suits the location of Cramond very much. Must visit if you're around!
MoreThe brewery which owns it is enforcing a strict no phones rule and you literally need to go outside to call anyone if you're trying to arrange a meet up. They're trying to encourage conversation but it's actually a bit of a pain. They also are operating as cash only so don't get caught out.Apart from that the staff are friendly and there is good selection of draft and bottles to choose from and no music so you can hear people talking.
MoreWhat waist of a beautifull place. Used to be a lively pub with simple but good food. Used to have such a great range of beers. Who ever manages this place should do something else. HORRIBLE. Waisting your money and time.
MoreI was excited to hear the pub had reopened so took my Mother, Daughter and her friend for the Sunday roast. What a disappointment. Awful. The beef seemed like it had been cooked days ago. It was brown, cold and dry. The plates were freezing so everything went cold in a matter of minutes. The staff were friendly enough but the atmosphere was dead. Couldn't wait to leave. Didn't complain at the time as it's now under the management of Samuel Smith, so it would have fallen on deaf ears. I honestly urge you not to go.
MorePoor customer skills will not return. lovely location.
My son and I popped in here thinking it would be a pleasant place, especially as it has a beautiful location. We were shocked, the service from the bartender was poor he was sullen and not at all friendly. The interior is dark brown and dingy very tired looking. There was one other customer whilst we were in. At no point were we asked if we would like another drink, (lost sales!) got the impression that the bartender could't be bothered. It was also very expensive. It is a shame as this place could be a busy wee place with some money spent on the interior and employing an experienced bar manager. We wont be returning nor recommending.
MoreThe food feels expensive for what you get. I ordered the hand made potato, cheese and onion pie with mash and seasonal vegetables. The pie was rather small and a little over-done and the seasonal vegetables turned out to be some peas. Not a bad place, though and the staff are pleasant enough.
MoreA rather shabby, antique style interior and the customer service to match. We were rather rudely directed to the family section as kids are not allowed in the bar, even at 3pm on a Sunday. It was deserted through there and lacking any atmosphere. We also noticed the no electronic devices to be used sign which seemed over the top. The vibes from the place were not to our taste so we won't be back in a hurry.
MoreLunch on the seafront would have been nice, but we ended up going elsewhere. The hours wait to get a dining table sent us home, but the cold back room to wait in, and having to visit the nearest cash machine a mile and a half away was off-putting
